White Plume Mountain

White Plume Mountain. Situated just south of the Riftcanyon, the ever-smoking White Plume Mountain has always been a subject of superstitious awe to the neighboring villagers. People still travel many miles to gaze upon this natural wonder, though few dare to approach it closely, as it is reputed to be the haunt of demons and devils. The occasional disappearance of those who stray too close to the Plume reinforces this belief.

Theocracy of The Pale

The faith of Pholtus, god of Light, Resolution, and Law, is the official religion and government of the the Pale. Religious intolerance exists within the Pale, with all religions suppressed except for that of Pholtus. A servant of Pholtus, Saint Ceril, is the Pale's patron saint. All non-Pholtus-worshipping states and peoples of the Flanaess are considered pagans or heretics, and thus enemies of the state. Wizards and other arcanists are always suspected of heresy. The hierarchy of the Pale is particularly hostile to religions with criminal or evil aspects, practice of the arcane, and any association with extraplanar entities (Including being born a Tiefling or Dragonborn).

All nobility involve those touched by divinity. Any citizen of The Pale who has an Aasimar born within three generations received a noble title. Higher bloodlines of Aasimar increase a family's noble rank.  Families that lose their Aasimar heritage are stripped of rank and title and are subject to an inquisition.
