Our adventurers set two people free from their shackles in the dungeon only to find that one of the prisoners was an assassin in disguise that pounced on her victims at first opportunity. Yet such deception was not enough for our adventurers as they cut the evildoer down quickly. Searching the dungeon further, they dispatched the undead before coming across a large burly individual with a greatclub with large burns to the side of his face. After a tense struggle they were able to finally best him. In searching his belongings they find him to be Mortlock Vanthampur, the youngest child of one of the highest ruling families in all of Baldur's Gate.
The plot thickens as they find a treasure hoard of Tiamat yet they have yet to witness any of Tiamat's cultists. Venturing further they find an altar of The Dead Three. Statues of Myrkul, Bane, and Bhaal made of ashen wood surrounded some of the most devout and most vicious of their cultists. One of whom could vanish from sight. The battle was fierce. Though Squishy was able to subdue some cultists with a sleep spell, the invisible assassin was impossible to target with spell nor sword. However, the strategy of Squishy and Daesha provided the team's victory as simultaneously timed thunderwaves filled the entirety of the altar wiping out not only the cultists but shattering the effigies of the dark gods.
The adventurers return to the streets of Baldurs Gate having dispatched the evil. They were able to rest, resupply, and recuperate in the confines of the guild ship, The Uncivil Serpent. However, the tasks before them weighed heavy on their minds. The Vanthampurs were in league with the cultists of The Dead Three. The prominent family's ties to the infernal trio had to have significance to the missing city of Elturel, but what? They had to investigate the Vanthampur home, but as a ruling family, the security of the estate would be great. Finding a way inside may prove more than a challenge for these adventurers.
